Flying in and out of LA you pass over miles of recently developed communities where the houses are crammed right next to each other. It turns out land developer profits are directly tied to something called DU/AC or dwelling units per acre and a DU/AC of 6-7 is the target.
The end result of high DU/AC is acre upon acre of homogenized suburban neighborhoods where people are essentially warehoused.
