The beta of Plaxo 3.0 supports login via OpenID. Kinda cool, but SSO and auto-registration are not the primary identity challenges with social networks and communities. To really pimp the unicycle, someone needs to figure out how to apply OpenID to help solve friend discovery, community bootstrapping, friend portability, etc.

Chris-you're totally right, and that's the plan. First step is being able to attach an OpenID to your account. Then you can link different accounts and share who you know for discovery and sharing and portability. we also need to get all these sites to standardize looking up who you know on their service based on who you currently know, wherever you keep that info. But all of this feels doable to me, particularly of uses make enough noise. Thanks, js
